Hello and welcome to my website. I’m a Scottish writer and editor living in Glasgow, and 2023 was a busy year for me. 2024 looks like being even busier!

I’m a classical musician and broadcaster by training and inclination but increasingly writing has become my focus. Wanting to learn more, read more and develop my work, I returned to study in 2015, completing degrees in creative writing at the University of Glasgow and putting more of my fiction out into the world. I have access to both academic and creative areas, developing collaborative projects and introducing writers and artists to arts and health archives. Details can be found here on the ‘Projects’ page.

These connected activities fed my imagination, and I wrote more. And better. In 2023 I was shortlisted in a major literary competition which led to being signed by an agent – there’s more about The Legacy of Gabriel Thorne on his page! My research in mental health archives, and especially the history of Gartnavel Royal Asylum, introduced me to a piece of Glasgow history that’s largely forgotten. Inventing characters to allow it to become better-known was an exciting process, and I’m looking forward to bringing this book to publication in 2024.

I continue to be involved in the writing world as creator and editor – I believe one feeds off and benefits the other, always – and can’t wait to explore new stories and archives. Thanks for visiting, and for reading!
